FEWA sa Hyehwa

eversince around november last year, i've been engaged in a sort-of working committee tasked to organize an association of filipino migrant workers in Korea under the EPS program, at least those who come into contact with the Hyehwa-dong Filipino community. its my first experience as an organizer and it's a whole new world of fulfilment, fun, belongingness and social interaction.

flashback... archdiocesan center for filipino migrants. songbuk-dong, south korea. sometime november 2005. rey (just a new acquaintance by that time), called me, nelson and marlon into the office of fr. glen where the pioneering cell of the organizing committee was holding one of those 'sketching' sessions trying to figure out where and how to start. nick, mar and ariel (absent were obet and reeve) briefed us what the org is or will be all about. to me they said that even if i'm not an EPS worker, which i honestly made known to them, they need my knowledge in computer, so they still want me in. i non-committingly replied 'ok, i'll see what i can do'...

fastforward... today. Filipino EPS Workers Association (FEWA) Election and Constitution and By-Laws Referendum. i manned the functioning of a Committee on Election chaired by dra. emely abagat, phd...

the time-space vertigo in between... drafting of the constitution, recruitment of pioneering members, seemingly endless meetings, late night adjournments, sleepless sleepovers, solitary extraction of mental deposits, character adjustments, behind-the-scene diplomatic maneuvers... (quite a world of fulfilment, fun, belongingness and social interaction! hehe...)

kudos and matsalams to all the people i've worked and been with... nick, ariel, mar, rey, nelson, obet, reeve, romy, allan, jun, the HFCC angels, the HFCC devils, fr. glen, fr. go, dra. emely, bro. jojo, ate lydia, ate precy, jingjing, mama iea, misael, the new volunteers... may all be worthed...

para po sa migranteng manggawang pilipino ng FEWA.
sana'y hindi lang ito maging isang magandang simulain, bagkus maging isang makabuluhang adhikain para sa pagsulong ng dangal, karapatan at kaunlaran ng bawat isa.

MABUHAY!
